Flopping Manchester United star tipped to comeback strong next season

Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has backed Memphis Depay to comeback strong next season and become a Manchester United star.

Depay was a high profile signing for United from PSV, and he arrived at Old Trafford with a lot of expectations.

He led his Dutch side to the League title last season with 22 goals, and a lot of impressive performances.

He has however struggled to replicate the form that made United fans happy when he moved to United. He's struggled for form and consistency and has spent more time on the bench than on the pitch for United.

“He is a very talented player and he can still give a lot to the club.'' Pereira told Goal.

"I think he will be a big star not only for Manchester, but for the Dutch national team as well. He has exceptional talent.

"It’s normal for you to play well in a match and then have a fall of production in the next game in the first year – he’s still getting used to a new life and a new country.

"It’s to be expected what he’s going through, and he will pass through this phase and become even stronger. He will be a superstar."

Depay has scored five goals for United this season. Next season will be pivotal in his United career.

If he fails to deliver next season, he will most likely join the list of players who arrived at United with huge talent, but refused to show up.
