Eric Cantona says he prefers Pep Guardiola to José Mourinho as Manchester United manager.
The Portuguese is currently negotiating a deal that will make him United's next manager, after Van Gaal was sacked on Monday.
Cantona loves Mourinho as a person, but doesn't think his brand of football is what Manchester United fans will love.
"I love José Mourinho, but in terms of the type of football he plays I don’t think he is Manchester United,” Cantona told the Guardian.
"I love his personality, I love the passion he has for the game, his humour. He is very intelligent, he demands 100% of his players. And of course he wins things.
"But I don’t think it’s the type of football that the fans of Manchester United will love, even if they win. He can win with Manchester United. But do they expect that type of football, even if they win? I don’t think so."
Cantona is raising valid points.
Most Manchester United fans criticized Mourinho's pattern of football when he was at Chelsea. Now they want the man they once almost crucified.
Who can blame the United fans? For now the team needs a manager that can get the team winning again, restore the fear factor and Championship mentality that the team has lost.
And guess what?
There is nobody that can restore that to the current United setup better than José.
