Bastian Schweinsteiger makes Germany Euro squad

The Manchester United midfielder won the race to make the final 23 man German squad to the competition.

The German captain was injured while training with the national team in March, and has not played since then.

Coach Joachim Löw selected the midfielder based on medical advise that Schweinsteiger will be able to play in the tournament.

"The doctors confirmed that Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mats Hummels will be able to play at the tournament,"  Joachim Löw said.

Winger Marco Reus is the major absentee in the squad. He was dropped because of an injury.
