Former Manchester United defender Phil Neville thinks José Mourinho won't stay long at United.
Neville is judging by Jose's past at clubs he's managed. The Portuguese has never spent up to four seasons as the manager of a club.
The former Chelsea manager is in advance talks with United on replacing Van Gaal who was sacked 48 hours after his FA Cup triumph.
"I can't see him staying too long at Man United, maybe two or three years, that seems to be his shelf life at a football club," Neville told the BBC via ESPN.
"It happened at Chelsea, it certainly happened at Real Madrid where there were rumours he fell out with a few players.
"It's a pattern with Jose, he comes into a club, he gets success but he doesn't stay for too long."
Mourinho's longest spell at a club was in his first time at Chelsea. He managed the team for three full seasons, and was sacked in his fourth season.
At United, steady success and great
football will keep Mourinho as long as he wishes. United don't have the history of sacking managers.
This is one of Mourinho's biggest downside. If he can get it right at United, there is no reason he can't last as long as he wishes.
To be brutally honest, growing up in the Ferguson era, you get used to winning trophies. Now that era has gone and we have gone through a few managers and gone through a period of not winning many trophies, I dont really care if Jose stays for 3/4 years, if he can bring trophies and we (UNT fans) can enjoy regular success again then I am over the moon. Hopefully he will show that he is not a part time manager and he can be our next Ferguson!
