Manchester United legend Paul Ince doesn't want United to get to the stage the keep hiring and firing managers, and therefore hopes the team can retain Van Gaal for one more season.
Ince knows Van Gaal's only hope of retaining his United job lies in winning the FA Cup, and he hopes the Dutchman can lay his hands on the trophy.
"I think winning the FA Cup might give him a bit more time, He said via Mirror.
"I hope it does because I don't want Man United to get into that situation where they keep sacking managers." He added.
The former United striker knows some things went wrong, but still hopes United stick with the Dutchman.
"Things go wrong from all corners of the press, and he's got to deal with that. But it doesn't mean you have to sack him.
"We want longevity at a club like Man United, we don't want to keep sacking managers all the time. So, for me, I'd like to see van Gaal there next season."
