The former Manchester United midfielder and three times Chelsea assistant manager has made a bold prediction about Mourinho's future at United.
Mourinho was confirmed on Friday as the new United boss in a move many think can move United to the submit of European football again.
Wilkins believes with maximum support for the new United manager in transfers, he would win something big for United in his first two seasons.
"I am delighted for both him and Manchester United because you have a got a proper winner. Wherever he has been, he has been absolutely magnificent and he has won." He told MUTV.
"That is the important thing and United,needs to get back where it belongs. That is the top of the Premier League. I believe he will win a major trophy within the next two years, if he is allowed to bring in the type of player that he requires."
With the powerful financial state of the club, Mourinho will definitely get the financial backing he needs to sign any player.
