Barcelona aiming to use Mourinho's appointment to lure United playmaker away

Barcelona are considering a summer move for Manchester United Spanish midfielder Juan Mata.

The Spanish Champs are aiming to take full advantage of the fact that the player and new United manager may have a strained relationship. Mourinho sold the 28 year old to United, despite being a huge fan favorite at Chelsea, and the club's fan player of the year for two seasons prior.

According to Spainsh media outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona see Mata as a player that can improve their current squad, and believe this is the best time to get the player that has been twice close to joining the  club.

According to the report, Barcelona think they should be able to get the player for a cheaper price, as the player may be seeking a move away from Old Trafford, while José may also be willing to let the player go.

Mata, who is the only United player to feature in all United's Premier League games last season was one of the surprise omission from the Spanish squad to the European Championship.

The player is willing to stay at United, but wants to get assurance from Mourinho that he is in his plans.

A move to Barcelona is also enticing as Mata is almost guaranteed trophies, with the Catalonia side.
