Manchester United star named in country's final Euro squad

As expected Manchester United's David De Gea has been named in Spain's final squad for the European Championship.

The United shot stopper endured a tough start to the season, as his transfer saga with Real Madrid cost him his starting place in the team as Van Gaal preferred Sergio Romero to the Spaniard because of concentration problems.

The transfer saga settled after a reported last minute break communication hitched the move. De Gea made a U-turn and signed a new deal with United.

He grew to being one of United's stand out performers last season, and won the club's player of the year award for the third time in a roll, for the first time in the club's history.

He narrowly missed out on the golden gloves award a after a Chris Smalling late own goal in the game against Bournemouth, denied him of keeping the same number of clean sheets with Arsenal's Petr Čech.

De Gea will be hoping to play a vital roll in the Spanish team's course to retain the European Championship.

Spain have named 19 of the final 23 expected. Four Spanish players within Real and Atletico Madrid will be named to complete the squad.
