The former Chelsea manager is the favorite to take over from Van Gaal. And he may have been scouting and planning for his new supposed post.
La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that the Portuguese is planning on raiding his former team - Inter by signing central defender João Miranda and striker Mauro Icardi when he arrives at Old Trafford.
Miranda 31, joined Milan from Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid, where he won the Spanish title in the Spanish 2013/14 season, and also helped the Madrid club get to the finals of the Champions League.
He has been a key member of the current Inter side.
Icardi is Inter's leading goal scorer with 11 league goals already this season.
United have lacked stability in both defence and attack, and both men will come in handy for United.
