Manchester United star opens up: Winning is all that matters now at United

Manchester United midfielder, Michael Carrick has spoken about United's new manager.

The experienced midfielder thinks Mourinho to United is a good fit, and winning is all that matters, while style of winning is secondary.

United have struggled to compete favorably for titles since the retirement of Sir Alex,  and the FA Cup won by Van Gaal was not enough to keep him at United, as the team failed to make the top four for the second time in three years.

Reacting to Mourinho's appointment, the 34 year old said: Via Daily Mail.

"His track record speaks for itself. I think it’s a good fit. It’s about winning at the end of the day.

''I know there’s a lot of talk about styles and playing this way or that way. But it's about winning, it’s about being No 1.

''It’s about winning trophies and if we can do that with a bit of style and a bit of flair then obviously that’s the perfect match. But first and foremost it’s about winning and getting back on top.

'Everyone is looking for quick results and that’s how it is.

The midfielder who is expected to be offered a one year deal soon, hopes United can build on the FA Cup triumph, and win more trophies in the nearest future.

"For the players, for the backroom staff and for the whole club it (the FA Cup) was a massive stepping stone.

"We hadn’t won anything for three years and you don’t want that to carry on for too long. We were desperate to win something.

"Hopefully that feeling will drive everyone on and we can win a lot more in the future."
