Sir Alex Ferguson clearly differentiates between Lionel Messi and C.Ronaldo

The former Manchester United manager has opined into the debate about who is better among the two.

The duo have shared the World Footballer of the year award for the last eight years.

Ronaldo played under Fergie between 2003 and 2009, before the Scotsman sanctioned his sale to Madrid for a then world record transfer fee of £80m.

Ronaldo won his first World Footballer of the year award at United, and Fergie thinks he is a more complete player who can use both foot,  good in the air and can play for virtually any team.

Speaking at an event for Roy McIlroy, Sir Alex said: (Via Independent)

"When the ball is at Messi's feet it is like he is wearing slippers.

"But there is a difference between Messi and Ronaldo and I'll tell you what it is.

"I think Messi is a Barcelona player but Ronaldo could be playing for Stockport County and he would score a hat -trick. He is brilliant in the air and he has two feet."

Fergie is insinuating that Messi has only proven at club level that he is brilliant with Barcelona. But Ronaldo can play for any team and he would perform well.
