Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has been left out of Spain's provisional squad for Euro 2016.
The Spanish international has played for United in every league match this season, though he's struggled for consistency at times.
Mata is not only the high profiled name that has been left out of the Spanish side, Santi Cazorla, Diego Costa and Fernando Torres other notable absentees.
Del Bosque speaking on Juan Mata's exclusion said:
"It pains me but there's a great deal of competition; and you have to leave feelings to one side".
Mata becomes the second tip United player to be left out of his country's Euro squad, after Schneiderlin didn't make the French squad.
