The Manchester United defender was voted by his fellow United players as their player of the season.
The Englishman has formed a steady and strong partnership with Daley Blind, that has been the bedrock of United's defensive success so far.
He has played 47 games for United this season, starting in all of them. Only his defense partner Blind (51) has played more games for United this season.
Reacting to winning the award on Monday night, Smalling said:
"It's a massive honour to receive this from my fellow players. There are some big names on the winners' list, so it's great to add mine to it.
"It's been good that we [himself and Blind] have been able to play so consistently together and learn each other's game. We've been quite solid as a team defensively.
The defender is already looking forward to winning the FA Cup.
"It's nice to win this award tonight, but I'm looking forward to hopefully picking up another trophy at Wembley in a few weeks."
Congrats Chris..
That was an award well deserved.
