Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Marouane Fellaini is a good player, but not a Man United class player.
The Belgian has been criticised by United fans for his performances and his seemingly lethargic approach to the game.
It seems the player has not been able to fully discover what made United fans crave for him while at Everton.
Even under David Moyes at United, Fellaini still lacked that Everton aura and couldn't perform at that level he did at the Toffees.
Carragher has however given a very meaningful and logical reason things have not clicked for the Belgian as United fans wanted.
In an exclusive interview with Manchester Evening News, he said:
"Fellaini is a good player; I just don't think he’s a Manchester united class player. He’s used in an effective way by Louis van Gaal and he did play well at West Ham. He doesn’t play every week and he’s used effectively in certain games.
"He was successful at Everton, that’s why United bought him. I also think that he would have been suited to Chelsea under Jose Mourinho, where power, strength and directness were important.
"But United don’t traditionally play like that. United should have players who are more than effective – which basically means he’s a handful and awkward to play against.
"Roy Keane was a handful, but he had a lot more to his game."
I personally agree with Jamie on this. Fellaini appears more physical than tactical.
He has however fit in well to Van Gaal's new 4-3-3 formation.
His recent ban is what is keeping him out of things currently. He is however available for United's FA Cup finals against Crystal Palace at Wembley.
