German international wants to play for Manchester United

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler is opened to the idea of returning to Old Trafford.

The 27 year old was a member of the United academy between 2005 and 2010 but failed to make a single first team appearance under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The closest he came to playing for the senior side was in the 2008/09 season, when he was given the jersey number 38, and was once named on the bench for a Cup game against Middlesbrough.

He return to Germany in 2010 with Hannover 96, and has been a constant figure for the side, but he is about to leave the club following their relegation from the German top flight this season.

The player has opened up of his desire to return to Old Trafford if an opportunity presents itself.

“The time at United helped me a lot in my development, personally and as a football player,” he told Goal.com

“Today I can say for sure: I would always decide to go there again.

"Nothing has been decided yet [on his future]. There are several offers. I will listen to all of them and then decide."

This is coming at a time when the future of David De Gea is up in the air. With United failing to qualify for the Champions League, the team may be bracing up for another summer of battle with Real Madrid in keeping the Spanish international.
