Paul Scholes highlights what Man United need to challenge for the title next season

The former Manchester United midfielder thinks United need three or four quality players at most to challenge for the title next season.

The United legend was highly critical of Van Gaal earlier in the season, but thinks United still have to spend some money to return to the summit of British football.

Van Gaal has spent over £200 m in his two seasons at United, and Scholes thinks United must sign players in strategic positions.

"They need to spend some more money," he told BT Sport after United's win at Norwich on Saturday. ( Via the Mirror)

"I think they need a top centre forward, a centre half and possibly a bit of creativity in
midfield.

"I don't think there's need for eight, nine or 10 players or anything like that.

"I just think two, three, four players maybe at most just to bring some real quality to the
team."

Scholes  is absolutely right on this. United need few quality players to improve the overall quality of the squad to compete favorably for the title next season.

Quite a good number of the players in the current squad are at best average players, and some need more competition.
