Zlatan Ibrahimovic to retire from Sweden after Euro 2016

The Manchester United target has confirmed that he would retire from international football with immediate effect after the European Championship.

The 34 year old has been linked with a move to United and from all indications that would be happening after the European Championship.

The striker made his  international debut in 2001. He is Sweden all time highest goal scorer with 62 goals.

He announced his retirement in the press conference ahead of their final group game with Belgium.

"The last game (at Euro 2016) will be my last for Sweden, so I hope it will not be tomorrow." He said.

"I am very proud of what I have achieved and will always bring the Swedish flag with me."

This means Ibrahimovic will not feature for the Sweden in the Olympics,  which was was believed could push his move to United further.

Sweden must however defeat Belgium to stand a chance if making it to the round of 16 at the Euro's.
