According to reports in France, United made an attempt to sign Dortmund bound Rennes striker Ousmane Dembele.
German side Dortmund have confirmed the deal bringing the player to their club and the player has spoken of his desire to play at the Signal Iduna Park.
United and other top European clubs have been previously linked with the player, who was voted best young player in France this season having scored twelve (12) goals and has five (5) assists in twenty-five games this season.
The player himself gave United some hope when he said:
"I love spending time with my friends and playing PlayStation. I take Manchester United." Dembele told L’Equipe. Via Metro.
The player has however moved on.
According to L’Equipe, United made attempt to sign the player by contacting former United defender Mikael Silvestre, who is Rennes' sporting director.
Matt Spiro a French based football analyst tweeted:

This reveals that United may not be as attractive to players as before. Remember, United also missed out on Benfica star Renato Sanches, some days ago.
