The former Chelsea manager has acted swiftly after United's loss to Southampton, by submitting a six page résumé, resolution, and letter of interest for the United managerial position. According to Independent.
The manner of United's defeat to Southampton has left a lot of fans and pundits calling for the sack of Van Gaal, and with the letter, Mourinho has formally declared his interest in the United yet to be available job.
In the letter, the Portuguese stated that he would abide by Manchester United's principles, while he also stated ways by which the current team can be improved.
The report also stated that Mourinho submitted a forensic analysis of the current United team, from defence to attack and stated the players he would want to bring in to change the fortunes of the team, while also not neglecting the development of the academy.
