Manchester United have not been active in the transfer window this January because of the uncertainty hanging over the future of manager Louis Van Gaal according to Daily Mirror.
The Dutchman himself has raised concerns over his future at the club by claiming he may sack himself before the board does. And with the current form of the team, if United fails to make the top four, its almost certain he would be sacked.
Hence the United board are reluctant to spend on new players, that the new manager if Van Gaal leaves may not like.
Van Gaal has already spent over £250m since arriving at United two seasons ago, and United are yet to experience a turn around commensurate with the money spent.
Leaving Bayern boss Pep Guardiola, sacked Chelsea manager José Mourinho, Ryan Giggs and a host of others have been tipped to take over from Van Gaal in case he departs United.
