Van Gaal blames traffic for Old Trafford early exits

Van Gaal does not believe United's lack of attacking prowess is responsible for fans leaving Old Trafford minutes before the final whistle.

Under Sir Alex Ferguson, United had a niche for getting lost time goals, and this keeps fans in the stadium for the full 90 minutes, especially in games where United were losing by a goal or two.

This season, United have struggled for goals in both halves of their games. Manchester United have now gone 10 first halves at Old Trafford without scoring, in all competitions, and the second halves have produced few goals either.

But Van Gaal thinks other things other than football may be responsible for the early exits at Old Trafford.

Speaking ahead of United's visit to St. James park to face Newcastle, he said:

“They are thinking that we could not score.

“It could also be because of the traffic that they left the stadium a few minutes earlier. There are many reasons to leave a stadium before the last minute.

"Me, as a manager, when I was looking at matches to analyse our opponent, I have done that  also in the beginning of my years as a manager. Then I would leave the stadium five minutes before the end. You never know what is the reason.”
