Former Manchester United star to be confirmed as Reading manager - Report

Former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam would be confirmed as the new Reaing manager this week.
According to Daily Mail, the Dutchman has agreed a two year deal with the Championship side to replace Brian McDermott.

Stam is currently the assistant manager of Jong Ajax (Ajax reserve team that competes in the Eerste Divisie). He was once the assistant manager of the Ajax senior side between 2013-14. He has also worked as a scout for Manchester United.

Stam is regarded as one of United's best defenders of the last two decades. He joined United from PSV Eindhoven in 1998, for £10.6m, that made him then the most expensive Dutch player and defender.

He enjoyed a highly successful three year stay at Old Trafford, winning three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, the Intercontinental Cup and the UEFA Champions League .

Sir Alex Ferguson sold the player to Lazio after he made certain revelations in his autobiography about how United signed him and about the club.

Fergie, however later opened up that the decision to sell Stam as an error.
Stam played at Old Trafford over the weekend featuring in the World Aid Charity match.

It would be great to see another former United player on the touchline in England. Steve Bruce and Mark Hughes have been doing a great job.

Wishing Stam well in his new adventure.
