The Manchester United manager has reportedly told the club to step up their efforts to sign Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez.
United have been linked with the Colombian, who has become a peripheral figure in the new Madrid setup since Zinedine Zidane took over.
According to the Daily Star, Mourinho is a fan of the 24 year old, and wants him at United.
The player shares the same agent as the United manager in Jorge Mendes, and that could facilitate the move.
Real Madrid may be willing to cash in on the player, but will want a chunk of the £60m they paid for the player back in 2014.
