Former Manchester United manager in frame for AC Milan job

Former Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has been named as a likely candidate to become AC Milan's new manager.

The experienced Dutchman was sacked by United few days after winning the FA Cup last season.

Though the first man to win a trophy at Old Trafford in the post Sir Alex Ferguson era, Van Gaal was criticised for his over conservative, possessive style of football during his time in England.

If selected, the Van Gaal will add to a glistering career that includes managerial spell in Holland, Spain, Germany and England.

Former Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas, and another Dutchman Ronald de Boer are also believed to be in consideration for the job.
