Bastian Schweinsteiger has set a new record as the German player with the most European appearance.
The Manchester United midfielder was a second half substitute as the Germans defeated Paddy McNair's Northern Ireland 1-0, for what would be his 15th appearance at an European Championship surpassing former captain Phillip Lahm on 14.
Schweinsteiger made a goal scoring debut as he came of the bench to score Germany's winner in their 2-0 opening match win over Ukraine.
Schweinsteiger will have his eyes set on the all time European appearance record of 16 caps by French legend Lilian Thuram and former Holland and United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.
If he features in Germany's round of 16 fixture, then he will equal the record and can set a new record depending on his far the German's proceed in the competition.
