Former United manager claims he wanted to sign Toni Kroos

Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has opened up that he wanted to sign Toni Kroos to United during his time as manager.

The former Everton manager was the 'Chosen One' by Sir Alex Ferguson to be his successor, but only lasted for 11 months.

He two major signings were Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata. Moyes said he wanted to sign the German midfielder, but didn't state why he couldn't.

"I wanted to bring Kroos to Manchester United, from Bayern. I thought his range of passing and his ability to play people in would have made him a top United player, maybe Scholes’ heir.

"He’s gone on and shown at Real Madrid what a fantastic footballer he is." Moyes wrote in the Sunday Times, analysing Germany's Euro performance so far.

"Kroos is a special talent, probably the closest thing at this tournament to a Xabi Alonso, an Andrea Pirlo or Paul Scholes." He added.

The question for Moyes now is why didn't he signed him?
