Didn't have much to do. Was helpless against the West Brom goal. A typical De Gea performance
Matteo Darmian: 6
Did well defensively but could have contributed more on the attack. His deliver was not top notch and he lost the ball on a number of occasions.
Chris Smalling: 7.5
Arguably United's best player on the pitch. Hr return was night welcomed and crucial. Did a fantastic job against the highly physical Rondon, Berahino and Sessegnon.
Daley Blind: 6
Was soild defensively but showed flashes of doubts. Could have done better for the West Brom goal.
Marcos Rojo: 6
Energetic performance from the Argentine, tried helping on the attack, but his long passes lacked accuracy.
Michael Carrick:5
After been rested for last match, a lot was expected from the United captain. Lost the control of the midfield to his former pal, Darren Fletcher, his passes were not direct, too many sideway passes.
Ander Herrera: 5.5
Another not too impressive and controlling performance from the Spaniard.
Jesse Lingard: 6.5
One of United's best players in the final third. Showed strength, will,desire and some courage. But couldn't breakdown a tight physical West Brom defence.
Juan Mata: 3
Started in his favorite number 10 role, a lot of expectation on him as one of the most senior and experienced players on the pitch, but he blew it off with three minutes.
Two cheap bookable offences leading to an unnecessary sending off. He coated United some life and energy.
Anthony Martial: 7
Another great spirited display from the Frenchman, especially after been down to ten men. Tried initiating a lot of attacks, but none yielded a goal.
Marcus Rashford: 6
A subdued performance from the youngster especially after Mata's sending off.
Substitutes
Morgan Schneiderlin : 5.5
Came on replacing Herrera, didn't influence the game much.
Memphis Depay: 4
Showed flashes of why Van Gaal decided to keep him on the bench again, came on and didn't do much
