Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson is tipping Manchester City to win Sunday's Manchester Derby.
Untied head into the Derby without a win in their last four matches, needing a redemptive performance and result as fast as possible.
Even at Old Trafford, Van Gaal's team couldn't muster up the courage and performance to stage a fight against Liverpool in the Europa League, drawing 1-1.
Paul wrote on his column for Sky Sports:
"Manchester City have to win this game! It's all becoming very tight in the race for the top four and Manuel Pellegrini's men are really struggling at the moment.
"The injuries to Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi are a big blow, however, I see home advantage being key in this game.
"Manchester United also have injury problems and a tough game against
Liverpool won't help their chances. I see City just edging this one 2-1."
City in fourth are currently leading Unites with four points and United can reduce that to one with a victory.
A victory will boost United's top four hopes.
With City missing inspirational skipper Vincent Kompany in defence, United stand a fair chance if they can attack with intensity.
Paul is predicting a 2-1 City win, What's your prediction?
