Exclusive: Wayne Rooney ready to do THIS to hasten his comeback

The Manchester United and England captain's starting place is under threat at both national and club level.

The emergence of Rashford at Old Trafford has raised questions as to if the United captain Will walk back into the starting eleven displacing the very effective youngster.

At the national level, the form of strikers like Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy has also begged the question: Is Wayne guaranteed a starting place in the current Three Lions set up based on current form?

The skipper is currently out injured, but has said he would return to training in about a weeks time. With the European Championship fast approaching, the striker needs to get back to full fitness fast to be favorably considered for a starting place in the England setup.

According to the Daily Star, the United skipper is willing and has spoken to manager Van Gaal about playing with the U-21 team to boost his first team chances in the national setup.

Rooney has been out of action  for for the last six weeks, and is due to return to playing again by middle April. And with  Roy Hodgson expected to name his Euro squad May 12, Rooney faces battle against time to be in top gear for the Championship.

With the United U-21 team having matches against Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Tottenham in April, Rooney appearing in about two of those matches will hasten his return to full fitness.
