Serbian referee Milorad Mazic will be in charge when Manchester United host Liverpool in the second leg of their Europa League clash at Old Trafford.
The Serbian was voted the worst referee at the 2014 world cup by users of the website Redcardtheref.com where he pulled 87,362 vote of the 110,000 total votes.
He was in charge of United's last match in this season's Champions League at Wolfsburg in Germany when Van Gaal's team were knocked out of the competition.
United fans will be hoping such an incident doesn't reoccur on Thursday night.
During the 2014 World Cup, he was in charge of controversial game between German and Portugal, where he awarded the Germans a controversial penalty and send off Portugal defender Pepe.
He was also the man at the centre in the World Cup game between Iran and Argentina, where he failed to award the Iranian team a penalty that led to hot criticism from then Iranian coach and former United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz.
He has however ditched out only one red card in three Champions League games this season, with no penalty recorded in those matches.
