Manchester United produced one of their most effective performance of the season against neighbours and rival City at the Etihad.
It was a collective effort victory, as every player on the pitch gave their all. From Rashford who nicked in the only goal, to Mata who made the assist to Smalling who was the rock in defence.
However on a bright weekend for most of the top teams including Tottenham, Leicester and Arsenal, two United players made the BBC team of the week.
They are David De Gea and Chris Smalling.
De Gea was praised for his heroics once again. According to Garth Crooks who assembled the team:
"He only had a handful of saves to make throughout the match but, everything he did looked commanding. The Spaniard is playing with an authority that suggests he and his team-mates have the Champions League on their minds again."
Chris Smalling also got accolades from Cooks.
"If there has been one success story for Louis van Gaal, it has been the development of Smalling. Manchester United's stand-in captain has had an excellent season.
Apart from the duo's excellent showing against City, both players have been the stand out performers in the United team all season.
