Manchester United trio of Wayne Rooney, Chris Smalling and Anthony Martial have been named in a WhoScored.com powered rating of the top 100 players in the ongoing European Championship, released by Sky Sports.
WhoScored.com uses a range of statistical criteria to give each player a rating out of 10 for their performances for their clubs throughout the season.
Sky Sports used the average rating of the players in the 2015/16 league season to rank the top 100 players that will feature in the tournament.
Manchester United skipper, Wayne Rooney almost missed out in the top 100, as he was ranked 100th on the list.
Romney who has an average whoscored.com rating of 7.07, will be hoping to lead the young Three Lions team to glory, in what could be his last major tournament.
At 31, Rooney's form has declined over the last two seasons, and he's been moved to the midfield at United, by Van Gaal in what looks like a good move that has made him more effective, it remains to be seen, what position Roy Hodgson will use him.
Chris Smalling is the next United player from behind in the ranking. The United defender sits at 79, with a whoscore.com ranking of 7.15.
The Englishman is one of the main reason behind United's enviable defensive record in the League, and starting only missed four games throughout the 2015/16 season. He and defensive partner Daley Blind played a record 55 times for United last season. (More on that here.)
Smalling is one of the guaranteed starters in the England team and a lot will rest on his shoulders as one of the most experienced players in the Three Lions defensive setup
The best rated United player is Anthony Martial who is 70 on the list with a whoscored.com rating of 7.170.
Since his big money move to United from AS Monaco, Martial has improved greatly and ended the season as United's top scorer and will be hoping to play a vital role in France's quest to lift the trophy on home soil.
