Confirmed: Manchester City star to miss Manchester Derby this weekend

Manchester City will be without captain Vincent Kompany for the Manchester Derby this Sunday according to manager Manuel Pellagrini.

The Blue side of Manchester are also sweating over the availability of his fellow centre back Nicholas Otamendi.

The duo were substituted in the 0-0 draw against Dynamo Kiev at the Ethiad as the Citizens reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in their history.

The City manager has confirmed that the Belgian will be out for up to a month.

"Vincent has a muscle injury in his calf, same as he had before. Always with muscle injuries it is a minimum of a month.

It is difficult to say if he is out for the season but we are in the middle of March and then it is the middle of April." He said after the game. (Via Daily Mail)

Otamendi is however hoping he would be fit for the derby.

"It’s very similar to a dead leg injury I have had before." He said after the game. (Via Daily Mail)

"The blow wasn’t that serious but it was better not to continue and come off.‘I am hopeful I can be there on Sunday. It’s a derby and I will have to be 100 per cent."

The match is an important one for both side as only four points separate both teams.

A win for United will reduce the different between both teams to one point which will be a big boost in their top four pursuit.
