Paul Ince identify two key players that can strengthen Man United's midfield

The former Manchester United midfielder has given an honest assessment of the United midfield last season, and proffered possible solutions.

Ince believes Mourinho must sign at least one key player to boost the United midfield, that was too 'slow and ponderous' last season.

"United need some one to energise them in the centre of the field.

"That wasn't a Manchester United midfield last season, there were no legs in the department." Ince told M.E.N Sports

"In the last two campaigns under Louis van Gaal United have been very light in midfield. It was slow and ponderous.

"They (the United midfielders) were far too slow and easily overrun. There was no steel, there was no pace, no runners, no power. There was no Roy Keane or Patrick Vieira in the middle taking control."

Ince would love to see United look at the possibility of bringing back a former United youngster in Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move back to United, and with Juventus close to confirming the signing of Miralem Pjanic, that may afford them the luxury of selling the former United academy star at the right price.

“Every club would want Paul Pogba,”  Ince said.

"Without doubt he'd be one name who'd provide the answers for United. He is a fantastic player with the power and strength Mourinho must get back into that engine room.

"I also like Roma's Belgian Radja Nainggolan. Whoever the player is it is a must problem for United to solve.''

Two great players mentioned by Ince, who would you want to see United sign?
