Only four players are untouchable in the current United squad

Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has said only four players in the current United squad have performed exceptionally and are safe from the axe of new manager José Mourinho.

The former Chelsea manager is preparing to upgrade the team into a title challenging team, and this lead to the departure of some players in the current side.

Already former Chelsea winger Damien Duff has said Mourinho can let go of up to eight players in the current side, and Yorke believes only four players are virtually untouchable.

Yorke believes Mourinho's issues with Mata at Chelsea could make his departure easy.

"We obviously know about Mata and Jose and that hasn’t changed and there will be a few players under the microscope who aren’t Manchester United players who somehow got in there." Yorke told 888sport in an exclusive interview

"They’ve underperformed and no-one is safe apart from De Gea, Martial, Rashford and Rooney. Everyone in between will be looking over their shoulders."

Yorke may be right on this, but Chris Smalling is another player a lot of fans think has done well enough to guarantee a place in Mourinho's new eleven.
