Chelsea eyeing shock move for Manchester United star

Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian may have emerged as a target for new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who currently manages the player at the Italian team in the European Championship, according to Bleacher Report UK

The Italian joined United from Torino last season, and had an impressive start to life at Old Trafford. He however struggled with injuries towards the middle of the season, and wasn't too consistent form then on.

Conte, sure knows the defender well, as his national team manager and reportedly wants to lure him to Stanford Bridge, when he takes over at the London club the end of the European Championship.

Darmian started at left back in Italy's 2-0 win over Marouane Fellaini's Belgium and was impressive before being substituted midway through the second half.

With performances like that, it would be difficult for Mourinho to let the player leave United, for his former club. His versatility is also a huge plus, as he can slot in at both right and left back comfortably.

The final decision rests with José though.
