Van Gaal against European Super League

The Manchester United gaffer does not support the idea of an European Super League.

Earlier this week, there were reports that top club officials from  Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea had  a private meeting with American billionaire Stephen Ross at London’s Dorchester Hotel on Tuesday.

The meeting is believed to be about how European top teams would pull out and form a league of their own.

This would mean top British team that don't make the Champions League can enter the competition and still make huge profits. With Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool all facing missing out on next season's Champions League, the alliance maybe a profitable one in terms of financial windfall.
Van Gaal however doesn't agree with the concept behind the Super League. Speaking in his press conference ahead of the match with West Brom, He said:

"Everybody knows my career I am against all super leagues.

"Sport is to be the best. It is rubbish I said that when it is not just the best teams.

"It is commercially driven. Sport is about winning, not coming second or third".
