Three United stars that could benefit from Rooney's injury

The Manchester United captain will be missing action for a while after manager Van Gaal described his injury as a 'nasty' one.
The England's all time highest goal scorer has been underperforming for a while and fans are of divided opinions on his injury as a lot of fans look strangely happy.

He will miss this weekend tie against West Ham and the must win Champions League decider away to Wolfsburg next week.

In Wayne absence, here are some players that can step up and give the skipper a run for his starting place in the team.

1. JUAN MATA

The Spaniard have been converted to a winger tactically by Van Gaal, though it is evidently clear that his best position is the number 10 role.
He has had one or two opportunity to play in the position this season, but has failed to impress.

With Rooney and Herrera out, he looks the most likely to get the nod to start behind the striker. With Wayne expected to be out for at least two games, the former Chelsea man can try to prove to Van Gaal that he needs to start behind the striker ahead of Rooney.

ANDREAS PERERIA
The youngster has always shown signs of brilliance, and he is confident. He started in the Capital One match against Ipswich, and has put in some decent performances this season. His playing time must have been reduced greatly because of the abundance of talents in the United attack. But with Van Gaal's habit of keeping faith with the academy products at United, the Brazilian may get a chance to impress.

MEMPHIS DEPAY

The Dutchman should not be waiting for other players injury to play. But his dip in form and inconsistency has cost him his first team place.
He is multi-positional - can play as a striker which earned him his last goal for United, and on the wings.

With United missing a man upfront, he looks to the most likely man to benefit from Rooney's absence. This may be his perfect chance to work himself back into the team. Coincidentally, he substituted Rooney in the last match.

Other players that can benefit are Ander Herrera, though he is still out.
Maroune Fellaini is another likely candidate, he had a fantastic return with the U-21 team and may be in line for a start against the Hammers.
