Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has given Manchester United one or two reasons why they must strive to hire outgoing Bayern boss Pep Guardiola.
The French legend played under the Spanish tactician at Barcelona and believes Guardiola has a plan to dominate the league while he puts a lasting legacy in his club that will continue long after he's gone.
Henry wrote in his column in The Sun:
"If I was chairman of any club in the world looking to change its manager, Guardiola would be my No1 pick. No contest.
"For me, he is already one of the greatest coaches of all time. His teams don’t just win the league, they totally dominate it.
"He arrives with a plan, takes complete control of a club and puts a lasting legacy in place that survives long after he’s moved on to his next challenge.
Henry believes Guardiola's philosophy of 3 P's is one of what makes him special.
He wrote:
"Here is what makes him so special.
PHILOSOPHY
PEP’S philosophy is based around the three Ps — passing the ball (play), keeping the ball (possession) and staying in your zone (position).
"Guardiola studies the weaknesses of every opponent and gives his players a precise way of bringing the ball out. He has a different set-piece routine for every game.
"So you know exactly how a game is going to unfold before it kicks off."
The Spanish tactician will be leaving Bayern at the end of the season. His destination is not yet known. The two Manchester clubs and Chelsea are thought to be highly interested in the former Barcelona coach.
Unconfirmed report says City are close to appointing him as manager.
