The former England manager has questioned Van Gaal's decision to sell Mexican striker Javier Hernandez.
The striker was a super sub and star at United during the Sir Alex era, but has not been able to hit continuous goal scoring form since the retirement of the Scott.
He was touted to be United's second striker behind Rooney, after the departure of Rademel Falcao and Robin Van Persie, but was surprisingly sold to Bayer Leverkusen.
It has since then been a tale of change in form for both parties, while United have struggled for the goals this season, Chicharito has been in goal scoring form, scoring a hatrick over the weekend, taking his tally to double figures this season.
Speaking on BT sports, Hoddle said: “I don’t know why they let him go, I’ve been saying it for two years. He has great movement. If you create for him, then he scores goal. No manager has put their hat on him".
The former England manager believes Hernandez was not given enough time to prove himself.
“No manager has said here are 30 games, show me how many you can score, apart from now at Bayer Leverkusen. He has 12 goals in his last 11games.” He added.
In contrast, United have struggled for goals this season, with the team scoring just nine goals in their last eleven. And Van Gaal is under immense pressure.
