The dutch winger has revealed the two clubs he snubbed to join Manchester United.
The former PSV player was one of the hottest players in European football last season, leading his Dutch team to the League with 22 goals and a number of spectacular performances.
He attracted interest from a number of teams, but he chose United managed by fellow Dutchman Van Gaal.
In an interview with Dutch newspaper AD posted on his Facebook page he said:
"I spoke to Liverpool, they were really concrete, but because of an injury in their team they wanted to wait a bit. After that, Paris Saint Germain came. They were really concrete too."
"One year earlier, Tottenham Hotspur was interested."
"It’s quite hard, because as a footballer, you’re not in control of everything, then Manchester United came. Very quick and very direct. At that moment you immediately know, this is it. This is the absolute top. As a club, but also the league.''
