Manchester United staged an improved performance against Chelsea at Old Trafford, but the goalless stalemate has done little to secure the future of Van Gaal.
The United manager seems to have lost the support of the fans as there were banners calling for José Mourinho to be hired as manager.
Van Gaal after the boxing day defeat by Stoke said he may resign before the club fires him.
But after seeing the performance of his team against Chelsea, he seem to have changed his mind.
Van Gaal: "When the players can give such a performance, there is no reason for me to resign. Maybe media want that but I won't do that."
“I have a contract, so it’s not a question of staying, it’s a question of fulfilling my contract.”
