Van Gaal: United cannot win Champions League this season

Van Gaal has admitted that his Manchester United side are not currently good enough to win the UEFA Champions League.

United's Champions League qualification still hangs in a balance as the team must defeat Wolfsburg away, to stand a good chance of qualifying.

After a string of goalless  draws, the most recent against West Ham, the Dutchman has questioned the ability of his team to conquer Europe.

“I don’t think that we are able to win the Champions League now, Maybe next year when we strengthen our selection again." Van Gaal said.

“But now we have to come as much as possible and maybe we can beat everyone, that I am sure. And we have proven that already, also in the Premier League. But normally we are not good enough to win the Champions League." He added.

This would definitely not come as a surprise to fans and pundits, as United have lacked the cutting edge in the final third, and the goals seem to have dried up.

United travel to Germany, sweating over the availability of Schneiderlin and defender Paddy McNair, as both men suffered knocks in the game against West Ham and had to be substituted. United are already missing a good number of first team players.
