Bournemouth 2 - 1 Manchester United: Player ratings

Manchester United loosed more grounds in their title push, and their second game in a roll.
After getting knocked out of the  Champions League in the week, United losing as much as nine players were outplayed and were the second best team on the evening for most of the game.

The United defence was visibly lacking coordination and steel.
Redlyunited Rates the United players.

De Gea: 6

The United goalkeeper made some good saves in the game, but he could have done better for Bournemouth's first goal.

Varela : 5.5

The Uruguayan started at right back and was not perfectly convincing. He tried helping on the attack, but was on a couple of times exposed by the quick pacey movement of the Bournemouth wingers

McNair: 5.5

The Irishman did a good job, attacking and bringing the balls forward. But was part of the fragile defensive setup.

Blind: 5

He was the most senior player in the defence and a lot was expected from him. Didn't organise the defence so well. Not to be blamed for any of the goals, but he had his nervy moments.

Borthwick-Jackson: 6

The most impressive of the three fill-in young defenders. He was calm, composed and had the willingness to attack. He had a good understanding of Depay and both at times looked dangerous on the left.

Carrick: 6

He was probably United's most effective player in a poor game. His long balls provided the spark for United's only goal. He was lacking his regular midfield companions in either Schneiderlin or Schweinsteiger, and it showed expressly.

Fellaini: 6

His greatest impact of the field was getting the United's equaliser, he had a couple of blocked shots and was strangely substituted. He was one of United's best attacking threat on the evening.

Memphis: 5

Occasionally showed flashes of his brilliant self, with some decent balls into the box, and had an impact in the United goal, but overall it was a flat performance from the winger.

Mata: 4

He was playing in his favorite number 10 role,  behind the striker, yet he failed to step up to expectations. Had a poor
poor game by all standards. Failed to have a dominating effect on the game and couldn't pick out the killer passes.

Lingard: 5

Looked lively and was typically himself, still lacking that cutting edge technique. He was substituted mid way  into the first half after an injury scare.

Martial: 4
The Frenchman was not only unlucky but maybe a little wasteful. On an evening nothing worked for United, he blew away two half chances. He definitely needs more time and improvement. Maybe some rest too.

Subs

Perreria: 4.5
Came on for the injured Lingard. But couldn't influence the game. Got lost in the game.

Powell: Not rated
Came in too late.
