United will continue their quest for Champions League football next season, when they travel to London on Sunday for a match with second place Tottenham.
United have been ordinary for most part of this season and lacked the aura of a champion. And winger Antonio Valencia knows this.
The Ecuadorian believes United should be fighting for the title, even while admitting they would give their all for United's top four fight.
The player is still exicyed that United have big and interesting ties ahead. United will still play both second and first place Tottenham and Leicester City this season, and the player is looking forward to those matches.
He told MUTV:
"It'll be exciting for us as we're playing for our place in the
Champions League next season. And when you're playing against opponents who are challenging for the title, in the shape of Tottenham and Leicester, they are going to be big fixtures.
"It will be interesting but a little bit sad in a way because we feel that we should be fighting for the title itself. But we have to make sure we
keep on this winning run in order to achieve what we need to.
"We know how important historically the Champions League is here, how happy it would make the fans to qualify for that competition again for next season. So the main battle is to get back into that top four."
United will have to overtake rivals City with consistency in other to make the top four. City currently lead United with just one point.
