José Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes will reportedly use his influence over the former Chelsea manager to lure James Rodriguez to United, after Mourinho is confirmed as United manager.
Both men share the same manager and Mendes is unhappy with Rodriguez current state at Madrid and sees Mourinho's United as the only route out of the Spanish capital for the Colombian.
Rodriguez have endured a tough time under current Madrid boss Zidane, with the Frenchman unhappy with the player's low fitness level and habits of the pitch.
Former Colombia midfielder Carlos Valderrama says Zidane does not like Rodriguez.
"Even if he (Rodriguez) scores three, four or five goals, Zidane won't put him on." The former Colombian midfielder said.
"James is a player he does not like.
"Carlo Ancelotti put him on and he played well, and then later with Benitez, but not with Zidane.
"So we do not understand what is happening with him."
Spanish outfit Don balon says Mourinho will be happy to take Rodriguez with him to United.
The deal will however not come cheap for United as Real will be asking for a transfer fee in the region of £60m for the attacking midfielder.
