Done deal: World cup winner moves to United

Belgian side Standard Liege have confirmed that they've terminated the loan contract of  United goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

The former Barcelona shot stopper endured a tough time under Van Gaal and joined Standard Liege in January.

The Belgian club have confirmed the termination of his contract along side Greek International Ioannis Maniatis.

The Spaniard is currently injured and managed eight caps for the Belgian side helping them to the Belgian Cup.

A statement from the club read thus:

"As we decided to give more
playtime to the youth players at the end of the season and because they couldn't be selected for medical reasons, the Spanish goalkeeper and the Greek midfielder have decided in agreement with the club to finish their loan at the end of this week.

"Standard de Liège wants to thank Ioannis and Victor for everything they did for our club, especially during the succesful campaign on the way to the Belgian Cup. We also wish them the best in the rest of their professional career."

Valdes contract with United will be expiring in the summer, and it looks like he would be released by the club.
