The Portuguese is the favorite to replace Van Gaal as United's manager in the summer.
According to reports from various sources, the former Chelsea manager has already started scouting and sanctioning some bids for players he'll want at United.
Mourinho has reportedly sanctioned United bids for Everton defender Jones Stones, and Benfica powerhouse Renato Sanches. While also wanting Zlatan Ibrahimovic to join him at Old Trafford.
PSG striker Ibrahimovic will be out of contract in the summer and thus will be a free agent.
The Swede has been linked to a number of clubs, but United are thought to be leading the race to sign the 34 year old.
The arrival of Mourinho at Old Trafford could also aid the deal. The duo worked together at Inter and may be keen on reuniting again. The only issue with the deal is the striker's wage demand.
Mourinho was keen on signing Everton defender Stone when he was at Chelsea, and may continue the pursuit of the Englishman at United.
Everton will require a transfer fee in the region of £50m for the defender.
Benfica star has been a United target over the past few months and a deal will most likely depend on how well United are wiling to meet Benfica's demand.
A fee in the £40m region would trigger the move.
Which of these players would you like to see at United next season?
