Rio Ferdinand: Van Gaal will be leaving United with this one good legacy

The former Manchester United defender knows the season has been "a bit doom and gloom" for Van Gaal and his United team.

He however believes the Dutchman deserves some credit for the amount of youngsters that he has given first team opportunities.

About 14 players from the United academy have been given their debuts by Van Gaal  and the likes of Rashford, Fosu-Mensah and Lingard have stood out.

“This season has been a bit doom and gloom for Manchester United with the way they have played, but Louis van Gaal's legacy if he is
going to have one when he leaves is the introduction of all these young boys, with Rashford leading the charge." Ferdinand said in an exclusive interview with Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

Ferdinand thinks it would be nice to see managers emulate that side of the Dutchman.

"It has been great for football and it will be nice for managers around the country to take heed of that.

"Bringing in young players as he has and getting to the FA Cup final -albeit they are not doing too well in the league - that is a good part of his time and story at Manchester United."
