Manchester United suffers huge blow in Saul Niguez pursuit

Manchester United pursuit of the Atletico Madrid star may have suffered a setback.

The midfielder has been a revelation this season since establishing himself as a starter in Diego Simeone's team.

United have been linked with the player who is generally believed to have a £47m buyout clause in his contract.

His stellar performance against Bayern Munich in their first leg semifinal clash will sure increase speculation and interest in the 21 year old.

Spanish media outfit Sports are however reporting that Barcelona have the first option to sign the player.

The contract was as a result of of David Villa's transfer to Atletico in 2013. The move gave Barcelona the priority in the transfer of Saul and Javi Manquillo.

This means Barca have the choice of equalling or raising the bid, for any transfer offer Atletico receive for the player.

With the player's rapid development, it remains to be seen if Barcelona will let him slip out of their reach.
